I recently had the opportunity to talk to a long-term survivor of CLL (another indolent blood cancer) who is also a doctor, and told him I had similar feelings that you have -- it's been 7 years for me since treatment, and sometimes I wonder if that means I'm "due." He reminded me that I just can't think that way -- there's no point in living your life just waiting for something bad to happen. If you keep doing that, you'll never get out of bed in the morning. I know that, of course, and I'm sure you do too, but it was a nice reminder from a wise man anyway.
BobLymphomaniachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17519575154615844854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-781671514856579833.post-24978263473884742392017-06-13T10:44:42.781-04:002017-06-13T10:44:42.781-04:00Hi Bob,

It's been 4 years since my diagnosis, 3.5 yrs. post RCHOP and 1.5 years post R Maintenance. Although I'm fine most of the time, I can't help feeling like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. Instead of being relieved that my 5 year anniversary is approaching ( so many cancers are considered cured at the 5 year mark), I feel like I'm just that much closer to a relapse. I see my oncologist every 4 months, and that is stress inducing as well. I always wonder what that blood test will reveal..
I think it's just something that those of us with indolent cancers just learn to live with.:) Lilly Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-781671514856579833.post-59708242807871176352017-06-13T10:35:28.979-04:002017-06-13T10:35:28.979-04:00Thank you, Donna. Ask for the 4 months, and insist that he gives it to you.
Good luck.
BobLymphomaniachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17519575154615844854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-781671514856579833.post-43034889483658408622017-06-12T18:39:27.979-04:002017-06-12T18:39:27.979-04:00Excellent commentary again.

I should have been happy at my last appt that the doc said " you don't have to come back for 6 months".
I was happy, but at the same time nervous. Now it's been four months, and my Watch and Wait ( watch and worry) anxiety levels are amping up,
Next appt I'm going to ask for a 4 month interval, if he suggests 6 months again. I can't take it!

Thank you, Bob, for taking the time to write this incredible blog.
Donna
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
